Special-needs parent conference March 25
The Jewish Federation of Greater Middlesex County, in partnership with New Jersey Yachad, will present a special-needs parent conference and family day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 25 at the East Brunswick Jewish Center, 511 Ryders Lane.
The conference will offer a day of informative workshops, networking opportunities and programs for Jewish children with special needs and their parents and siblings. The goal is to connect these children and their families to available community resources that they may not know exist.
Dr. Jeffrey Lichtman, national director of Yachad, the National Jewish Council for Disabilities (NJCD), will be the keynote speaker and address the issue of inclusion of individuals with special needs into the Jewish community.
Workshops for parents will include topics on providing a Jewish education for children who do not attend Jewish day schools, inclusive summer camp opportunities, understanding medications, planning for young adults after high school, and more. Children’s programming will be available during the event, including programs for kids with special needs and their siblings.
The cost for the program is $25 per person, or $36 for the entire family, and includes a buffet lunch. Registration is required by contacting Chani Herrmann at email@example.com or 917-885-7178.
