     Sayreville War Memorial High School’s winter track team made its presence felt at the Greater Middlesex Conference (GMC) championships on Saturday at the John Bennett Indoor Complex in Toms River.

Old Bridge
     Old Bridge High School’s girls were fourth at GMCs and the boys were seventh. The Knights did have one GMC champion in high-jumper Oksana Sokolova. Her winning jump was 5-2. She was the only jumper over 5-0 at the competition. Selene Nelson led the shot put after the qualifying round with a 31-2 toss. She didn’t improve on that in the finals and finished fourth.

Old Bridge hockey team playing well on both ends
Knights sporting 9-2-4 record

     A commitment to playing a hard-nosed, two-way game has paid off with a 9- 2-4 record for the Old Bridge High School ice hockey team. The Knights currently sit in third place in the Greater Middlesex Conference (GMC) behind front-running St. Joseph of Metuchen and South Brunswick, last year’s conference champs.

     Sayreville Little League is having registration for the 2012 season Feb. 4 at the Mickey Sedlak Center, Dolan Street, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is for boys and girls ages 4-15. Registration fees are as follows: $100 for one child; $165 for two; and $215 for three or more children. There is also a $200 work bond due at registration.
