      Young Sayreville squad leads division in tennis
      Bombers entered week at 9-0 in White Division play
            If it's lonely at the top, that's something the Sayreville War Memorial High School boys tennis team won't mind this time, having shared the Greater Middlesex Conference (GMC) White Division crown with Monroe last spring. The Bombers own a perfect 9-0 mark in White Division play, and coach Mike Provenza's goal from the start was for his team to win the division.

      Senior Sean Lawrence likely to challenge in GMC Tourney
            While Monroe Township High School has consistently produced some of the better golf teams in the Greater Middlesex Conference through the years, the 2009 edition is just above .500. Coach Dennis Kelleher admits the team's 8-6 record is not up to par with previous seasons, but the reason is a lack of experience. But that is not going to last forever.

            The New Jersey Cynder will hold its annual tryout/evaluation session for prospective football players over the age of 18 at 7 a.m. May 17 at Westside Park in Newark. The Cynder play in the Big North East Football Federation (www.bneff.com), an AA football league headquartered in Mount Vernon, N.Y.
